Peculiarities
Smoke exhaust valves are used in mechanical smoke extraction systems.
They are used for smoke removal and to provide additional supply air to one or more fire protection zones.
The valves are made of calcium silicate panels and are opened by an actuator in the body; When smoke is detected, the actuator is activated upon receiving a signal from a duct smoke sensor or from a fire alarm system.
Smoke exhaust valves have two safe positions: open and closed.
Fire-resistant smoke exhaust valves for several partitions have safe positions – “open” and “closed”, depending on the location of the fire and the path of smoke removal.
If the safe position is “open”, the free section must be maintained even in the event of a fire.
The EK-JZ slats move to a certain safety position when receiving a control signal, triggered automatically or manually. According to the specified temperature-time curve, the EK-JZ can remain fully open or closed after 25 minutes (MA, manual opening).
In the same way, the position is changed for modular applications (Cmod), which makes it possible to pneumatically balance the air flow level through the intermediate position section of the damper section with product type EK-JZ.
To ensure the functional reliability of the smoke exhaust valve, regular maintenance is required.
